Hi Jay, Secrets Silversands Riviera Maya is managed by AMResorts who I believe closed the property in July, 2018. It will cost a little more but it may be worth it to take the risk of booking this resort. I fly weekly usually, right after Secrets I was off to St Louis. Unfortunately, most of the staff we have come to know and love over the past 8 years have moved on to other resorts. They did not renew this year with AM Resorts yet, and the feeling is they will not, but it’s still out there as a possibility. I would think, that if it was closed, there wouldn’t be any workers working there to go on strike? How does a thrving resort generating an 8.5 million dollar a month cash flow each month close. Randy, your right. I don’t think much will be done until the strike is over, whenever that may be. The Secrets the Vine took really good care of us and restored our faith. Looks like December it is for the reopening. I was shocked that the Local experts shuttle company nor the driver didn’t know the resort was closed for the past 3 months, due to reopen in December. Just cancelled our reservation for Capri, and booked Playa Mujeres instead. We stayed at Secrets Akumal and visited Secrets Maroma beach for the day. Might not be the fanciest resorts but most reliable in my opinion. They probably won’t update the actual reservation website until they are closer to opening. Unfortunately I haven’t heard a peep. Just got word that Secrets Silversands’ legal problems have been fully resolved with a reopening date set for sometime for the fall of 2020. You may find this facebook group helpful. When we were checking in we were talking about Silversands, we were told the ownership group did not renew with AM Resorts so if it ever does reopen, it likely won’t be a secrets resort. The hotel wants to be open for the busy holiday season, and has offered those who did not participate in the prior strike an opportunity to come back to the resort to continue their employment. Secrets PM has 2 separate sections which I didn’t like having to go back and forth, but the pool area is very nice with several Jacuzzis interspersed within the lounger section. Pretty sure Ana Banana, and most of the other entertainment staff will not be back when they reopen. I have been dragging my feet trying to decide but I think it is time to move forward. Loosing all that money month after month doesn’t make sense. Now I’m not sure which one is opening April 1. Secrets Silversands Riviera Cancun is still open. We considered Secrets Aruba (opening April 1st), and Secrets St Martin (opened February 1st), but liked Playa Mujeres enough to return next year. The supervisor called Secrets organization or maybe Expedia, due to the language barrier we never learned how he found out our reservation was transferred to Secrets the Vine, Cancun. The beach is so much nicer than Silversands was. Have you been there since they’ve renovated? Heard today that someone got an email from AM Resorts saying the new Secrets Silversands is going to start accepting reservations on December 14th and they are looking forward to a great winter season. FYI:  As of 07/08/20, the resort has reportedly resolved all legal problems and will spend the next several months getting ready to reopen the fall of 2020–they are trying to reopen before the very busy holiday season, but there is no set reopening date yet. I just called SSS and I would normally get a machine that said the number was temporarily unavailable. I just booked a trip to Secrets Playa Mujures for March. Any update on SSS? I read that most of the former employees are now working at other resorts…maybe they will return once the resort reopens. I’ve read 3 weeks (which seems very optimistic seeing as the pools are all green and the property has been almost abandoned for several months). It seems we can’t find what you’re looking for. At this point we’re just going to Secrets Playa Mujeres in February. I heard that the deed to the property was hacked and money was borrowed against the deed by an unknown source. Lucky Stables in Cay Bay offers two-hour rides three times a day, or one-hour rides every hour on the hour all day. As far as going to Dreams, you could walk there on the beach (right next door), or a golf cart will take you from the pickup area by the rooms. They have not started any cleanup or renovations yet until they decide what direction they are going. The Secrets brand isn’t consistent is my experience ! I did hear a possible explanation. Yes, there is a piano bar, it’s down by the rooms and pool next to El Patio. I would recommend that you are cautious about booking anything in the near future and, if you have already booked, be diligent in making sure that you know, in advance, how they are going to look after you. Ok, need some help people. While originally they hoped to be open by September, they are going to take some time to spruce it back up and do it right. Some of the Silversands staff does work here at Playa Mujeres, Dylan from the entertainment staff, Mercedes from the pool wait staff, and a handful of others. You can snorkel with the turtles right off the beach. I’ve heard they sold it to someone outside of AMResorts.
